DONATE

September 2011

We'll fund half the cost of a new motorcyle if Moanoghar can raise the rest. See Moanoghar Mobile Medical Clinics for details.

July

Moanoghar has now received approval for funds clearance from the Bangladeshi government, so they can now accept BODHI's donation of BDT500,000 (about A$6300/US$6800).

This will fund regular mobile medical clinics in remote areas and the salary of a new nurse/educator, as well as other items such as the Denis Wright Memorial Scholarships. We are continuing partial funding of the medical officer’s salary and full funding for a community mobiliser.

Marma traditional dance

BODHI continues its long-standing support of indigenous peoples in Bangladesh's CHT by donating funds collected by the Australian Jumma (collective name for all the CHT's indigenous peoples) directly to Moanoghar.

Moanoghar was founded in 1974 by a group of socially engaged laypeople and Buddhist monks to provide shelter and education to children displaced and orphaned by the building of the Kaptai Dam in the 1960s and the 1971 war resulting in the nation of Bangladesh.

Currently Moanoghar cares for about 300 children, residential and non-residential, aged between 7-18 years.
