Chakma Mahila Samity Women's Group

Bajeisora clinic opening

BODHI has long wanted to begin a health care project among indigenous people in the remote northeastern Indian state of Mizoram.

We started off small by donating A$550 to Chakma Mahila Samity (CMS) Women's Group in Kamalanagar for two health awareness and medical camps. As of August 2009, local partner CMS has conducted 2 health awareness and medical camps, in February and May of this year. We hope to work with CMS to provide more clinics and return visits to Udaltana and Bajeisora.

'The Chakma Mahila Samity feels encouraged by BODHI's benevolent step towards the downtrodden Chakma Community in Mizoram,' writes CMS President Jyotsna Chakma. 'In fact BODHI is the maiden Overseas Organisation to stand by the Chakma Mahila Samity in materializing its aims and objectives. The funds are to be used for health care in the remote localities in our area.'
