HOW YOU CAN HELP

A vanishing way of
life can continue

You can help us continue the Revolving Sheep Bank vital project in western Tibet, near Phala, which loans reproductive-aged ewes and nanny goats to 4 poor nomad households, to be repaid in Year 5 of this five-year project.

US$25/A$40 buys one ewe or nanny goat for a nomad household
US$250/A$400 buys 10 ewes or nanny for a nomad household
US$1250/A$2000 completely equips a household with ewes and nanny goats

Weddings, birthdays and anniversaries

Weddings. Ask your guests to donate to BODHI instead of purchasing wedding gifts. We'll send a thank-you letter to all donors and will inform you of the amount raised and donors' names.

Birthdays and anniversaries. For your hard-to-shop-for loved ones, your jaded or idealistic friends and that special someone. These gifts make a big difference in people's lives, and your help makes it happen.

There are also other types of donations which may be of assistance.

For example:

  • Goods.

Time.

It may be that you can perform tasks which will help BODHI. For example, you may be skilled in raising money and can offer these skills to BODHI.

Fundraising events.

  • 13 Ugly Docs. Dr Marty Rubin and some friends put on fundraising dances in 2002 and 2003 to raise funds for the Revolving Sheep Bank and other projects.
  • The humble chocolate drive or bake sale can raise significant funds.
  • An event in your area at which you could have a stall. We can provide posters and printed matter.

Service for donation.

It may be that you have skills which in themselves generate funds that can be channelled into BODHI project work.

Here’s an example of how this can work. There are many others.

Jeni Crump. Jeni does volunteer work in Nepal and India. In May 2002, during a visit by the Dalai Lama to Melbourne, Jeni helped Colin and Susan at BODHI’s stall in the lobby, whose space was donated by the Australia Tibet Council of Victoria. Jeni helped to sell many posters and inform people about BODHI’s work.

Combine service with your job.

  • Does your firm make coffee mugs? Maybe you can get some donated for the stallholder above.
  • Bryan West is a teacher in Australia. He has adapted the Revolving Sheep Bank concept for use by other teachers vis the publication, Queensland Geographer. He has put together a PowerPoint presentation of the travelling slide show.

Bequests.

BODHI has donors and supporters who have indicated that they intend to bequeath funds for ongoing work in their wills. You may like to consider this opton.

If you have some professional skill that could be turned to BODHI’s benefit, please let us know.

If you have any other idea that can assist BODHI in its work, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us. We do need your help!
