Dr B.C. Khanna, to BODHI:
'I am always amazed at your energy, your commitments and your achievements.'
Australian volunteer nurse Wendy Birley went to Kollegal, South
India:
'The
vaccines arrived with the labels off, so we didn't have a clue what
was what. Luckily, the hospital administrator knows the bottles, I
hope!'
(Wendy
ran the Health Education Competition, for which she taught classes.)
Australian volunteer Kim Birley also went to Kollegal, South India:
'These
hills are full of leopards, bears, wild elephants, snakes and the
depleted remains of elephant poachers, sandalwood smugglers and the
Indian Army who were chasing them.'
Life
is never dull for a volunteer!
Australian volunteer Robert Miller taught English at the school for
new arrivals, Dharmasala, N India:
'My
gratitude for my 4 months in Dharamsala is profound. I learned that
our desire for contentment and happiness is achievable through having
a sense of purpose, rather than from increased material gains. I possess
a greater sense of respect for other people and their cultures, regardless
of their country of origin. My hope is that many the people with have
a Himalayan experience similar to my own.'
